Sun Life Partners with Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance, Sponsor Youth Physical Activity Report Cards Programs  across Asia

The program is designed to encourage children to be physically active and improve  their physical activity abilities

Jakarta, 31 May 2022 – In order to support the improvement of physical health levels for young people in Asia, Sun Life partnered with the Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance (AHKGA) to compile Youth Physical Activity Report Cards, a report that discusses recommendations that can be used as a reference to increase physical activity for young people in Asia and around the world.

The report, which will be facilitated by the AHKGA research team, will cover a number of Asian countries where Sun Life operates, while more broadly the research will be conducted in the other 57 participating countries. The results of the report will be announced in Q4 2022 and will be displayed through physical activity report cards, value analysis, as well as recommendations from participating countries, which are compiled every two to four years.

“It is an honor for Sun Life to be part of the Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance’s research which is also in line with our commitment to helping people live healthier lives. This research will not only present important information about the level of physical activity in today’s adolescents, but also strengthen Sun Life’s future investment to further maximize social impact and improve health for young people in Indonesia and our other business units in Asia,” said Shierly Ge, Chief Marketing Officer of Sun Life Indonesia.

“Active Health Kids Global Alliance welcomes the partnership with Sun Life to support physical activity in children and adolescents in Asia and around the world. This is the right time and it is important for us to synergize our commitment to disease prevention, where active living behaviors are severely restricted as a form of preventing the spread of COVID-19,” said Dr. Mark Tremblay, President of AHKGA and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Ottawa, Canada.

One of Sun Life’s global philanthropic missions is the prevention of type 2 diabetes that can be prevented or maintained through increased physical activity and the adoption of healthier lifestyle choices. The partnership with AHKGA is also the right step and in line with sun life’s other philanthropic projects in Indonesia and further strengthens the company’s commitment to the prevention of type 2 diabetes.

The partnership from Sun Life will also contribute to the overall mission of AHKGA to encourage children to be more physically active through thought leadership, self-capacity building, advocacy, and awareness raising to live more actively and healthily.
